Older Workersare helped to secure jobs that provide long term self-sufficiency in positions that meet the person’s interests, aptitudes, values and stated economic needs. 

Getting Help

The employment services program is located at 600 W. Virginia Street, on the near South Side of Milwaukee.  To schedule an appointment with an Employment Counselor, please call (414)-291-7500 and ask for the Employment Services Intake Assistant.  The Mature Workers Resource Center is located at the Washington Park Senior Center at 4420 W. Vliet Street and can be reached by calling (414) 931-0253.

No Program Fees

Interfaith Employment Services program receives financial support from the Milwaukee County Department on Aging, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, the State of Wisconsin Vocational Bureau on Aging and Long Term Care Resources, and the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Act.  Program participants are not assessed fees, and there are no costs to employers using our program services.

Donations to the Interfaith Employment Services program will be most gratefully accepted and can be made simply by calling (414) 291-7500 and asking for the Director of Employment services at ext. 237.

Mature Worker's Resource Center

The Mature Workers Resource Center operates at the Washington Park Senior Center.  It offers mature workers age 50 and over a user-friendly environment where they can obtain resource materials and get their resumes critiqued.  They also have access to workshops, educational programs, computers, the Internet, resource partners in the community, and potential employers. 

Current community resource partners include:  Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Milwaukee County Department on Aging, Buyseasons.com, Cardinal Stritch University, Coops Janitorial Service, Community Care Inc., DVR, Hatch Staffing, Home Depot, Home Instead Senior Care, Milwaukee Bar Assoc., MATC, Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, Milwaukee County Veterans Services, Milwaukee Housing Authority, Northeast Comprehensive Job Center, Office Team, Schneider National, Inc., Senior Helpers, Stowell Associates SelectStaff Inc., UW-Milwaukee-School of Continuing Education, Vets Job Service, Visiting Angels, Weather Tight Corp., and WWBIC.  Individuals have ready access to resources for work through these partner agencies. 

The Mature Workers Resource Center is currently open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and can be reached by calling (414) 931-0253.

Title V Senior Community Service Program

This program is funded through Title V of the Older Americans Act and is available to men and women age 55 and over who meet low-income guidelines (125% of poverty).  Eligible individuals are helped to retool, retrain and re-enter the workforce.  Subsidized working opportunities are available working at community non-profits and government agencies to help participants develop work history and job skills.

Participants are also eligible to be paid minimum wage while training 20 hours per week.  Individual counseling, assessment, resume construction, interviewing and help with job searches/job placement are some of the additional services provided.

Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition

Wisconsin Seasonal Workforce Coalition [click for website] includes employers and community based workforce agencies working together to coordinate 2,000 + seasonal employment opportunities across the calendar year.

The vision for the Coalition is “Seasonal Employment = Future Opportunities.”  The mission for the coalition is to coordinate seasonal employment opportunities as a way for laid off workers to bridge employment and for entry level workers to prepare for permanent employment.

We currently have over 20 employers and over 25 community partners and we continue to build this network.  Some partners include: BUYSEASONS, UPS, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Center for Veteran's Issues, Boys & Girls Club and Goodwill Industries.
