The Washington Park Zoo was housed on the Senior Center grounds from 1892 to the mid 1950’s. The Zoo then relocated due to the construction of a new express way system that took up part of the old Milwaukee County Zoo grounds. Zoo animals, band shell entertainment, picnics and fishing in the lagoon are just some of the memories and highlights for those who grew up in Milwaukee.
In the1960’s, Milwaukee County constructed six Senior Centers and Washington Park Senior Center was dedicated in 1968.
Presently, the Center has a welcoming and neighborly atmosphere bustling with a variety of activities for those 50 and older.
